INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT RULES FOR EACH TOURNAMENT PROMOTED BY THE BDF

A) THE MASTERS GENERAL i) This tournament shall form the basis for selecting the National Team. ii) The venue shall rotate amongst the member associations. COMPETITORS i) Participation by Invitation of the Executive Committee of the BDF. ii) Players shall be chosen by the Executive Committee of the BDF and shall be the top sixteen (16) men and the top eight (8) women ranked by points from the designated local tournaments held earlier in the year. iii) The designated local Tournaments shall be held using the same format as this Tournament except that the top ten (10) men and top five (5) women shall be chosen by the local association in whichever way they see fit. iv) The results of the Tournaments shall be sent to the President who shall rank them and inform the Executive Committee of the results of the ranking. v) The Executive Committee shall fix a date by which all players must have confirmed their acceptance of the invitation. vi) If any player, for whatever reason, cannot accept, then the next player on the list must be invited. Ad infinitum. vii) If, at the time of the tournament, any player has not appeared then the next person on the list who is readily available will be invited to play. If there is no person available from the list then a substitute shall be chosen by the Executive Committee from those present or available. Tournament Rules SET - 3 games against the same opponent GAME - One game of 501 TOURNAMENT - MEN 45 games, 3 each vs 15 opponents WOMEN 21 games, 3 each vs 7 opponents i) The sets and order of play is predetermined. ii) At the start of the Tournament each player will draw a letter to determine who plays who, in what order, according to the pre-arranged schedule and order, which shall be on open view. iii) At the beginning of each set one of the two players will draw a number for which board they are to play on. iv) The scorers should indicate on the scoresheet the number of darts thrown by the winner of each game, and make it clear who won. v) There shall be a judges table and the judges will award points according to the following: MEN WOMEN WIN - 2 POINTS WIN - 2 POINTS 95 $ OVER - 1/2 POINT 95 & OVER - 1/2 POINT 15 DARTS/LESS - 5 POINTS 21 & UNDER - 6 POINTS 16-18 DARTS - 4 POINTS 22-24 DARTS - 5 POINTS 19-21 DARTS - 3 POINTS 25-27 DARTS - 4 POINTS 22-24 DARTS - 2 POINTS 28-30 DARTS - 3 POINTS 25-27 DARTS - 1 POINT 31-33 DARTS - 2 POINTS 28 & OVER - 0 POINT 34-36 DARTS - 1 POINT 37 & OVER - 0 POINT vi) The scorer should hand the scoresheets to the judges either at the end of each set or at the end of each game. vii) The winner of the Tournament shall be the player who has accumulated most points. viii) There shall be a trophy presentation at the end of the tournament. See trophy list. ix) In the event of a tie in the Masters Tournament and the position is necessary for National Team selection the players involved should throw a tie-breaker consisting of one more set, against each other, all three games, the same points being used as in the tournament, and the player with most points accumulated being the winner. This procedure will be adopted set by set until a winner is found.
Game Rules i) All games 501 straight start/double finish. ii) BDF Playing Rules apply to all games. iii) Players shall throw for the bull only in the first leg. The winners shall throw first in the first leg and each alternate leg thereafter. The loser shall throw first in the second leg and each alternate leg after that. The flip of a coin shall determine who throws first at the bull. iv) All three games in the set MUST be played.

Plates, to be engraved with winners names, should be removed from floating trophies before being presented and sent away for engraving. The following pages are the forms for the set up and organisation of the National Masters and the Local Invitational Tournaments. NT.......NATIONAL TOURNAMENT LT.......LOCAL TOURNAMENT
B) THE GOLD CUP
GENERAL i) The Gold Cup is made up of two separate events played on two different days. Points are awarded for the different parts of the events and totalled to find the Gold Cup winners. ii) The two events are:- 1. The Gold Cup Team event, to be played on the first day. 2. The Gold Cup Knockout event. iii) Each Association's team should be composed of eight (8) men and four (4) women. One male and one female substitute is allowed for each team iv) Each Association team must have a Captain and a Vice-Captain v) There should be a minimum of eight (8) boards available for competition play.
SUBSTITUTES i) Two substitutes are allowed for each team (1 man, 1 woman) and these are allowed to play at any time and for any reason. ii) Once a knockout draw has been made no player may be substituted. iii) Once a knockout match has started no substitutes may be made.(i.e. darts have been thrown)
REGISTRATION i) Each team must register their Association's team before the Tournament at the time and place specified. ii) Each Association should register the names of the eight men and four women who will represent them in this Tournament (both events). One extra men's name and one extra women's name may be added to this list as a substitute. iii) The entry fee is $100.00 per Association.
GOLD CUP TEAM EVENT
i) The team event is a "round robin" event in which each team plays each other team in a fixed format. ii) The format for the Team Event is as follows:- iii) The games should be played in the following order: iv) Each team will fill out their line up for each SET at the beginning of that SET and the order of play shall be that as written down. Five (5) minutes will be given between SETS for the Captains to fix their line up for the next SET. v) The winners are determined by the best of three legs, vi) In the triples games, the woman may be placed anywhere in the line up. vii) A draw will take place before the match to determine the order that the teams will meet. viii) Members of neutral teams should score.
GOLD CUP KNOCKOUT EVENT
i) This is a "knockout type" competition. A fixed draw will be made prior to the start of the event for each of the separate parts of the event so that members of a team will not meet other members of the same team until after the preliminary round. ii) The separate parts of the event are:- iii) Each Association may enter up the following number of participants for each part as follows:- 1st 2nd joint 3rd 5th-8th 9th-16th 14 10 7 4 2
GAME RULES i) The Playing Rules of the BDF shall be those of this competition. ii) Players shall throw for the bull only in the first leg. INDIVIDUALS POINTS i) A tally shall be kept of INDIVIDUAL players points accumulated over the two days. Points are obtained as follows:- a) In the Team event if a player wins his/her best-of-three singles, or the team he/she is playing in wins its best-of-three doubles or triples then each player playing shall get one INDIVIDUAL point. This is separate from the point that the team gets for the win. In other words all three players in a winning triples team in the team event will get one Individual point each while the Association will get one Team Point. b) In the knockout event a player gets Individual points according to where he/she finishes (the point he/she gets knocked out), according to the points laid out above. In other words all three members of a triples team that comes 2nd will get 10 Individual points each and the Association will get 10 Team Points. c) The Most Valuable Man and Woman will be the ones to accumulate the most Individual Points for the two events.

Most Valuable Man 15. Most Valuable Woman
ORDER OF PLAY IN THE KNOCKOUT EVENT In order to spread out the byes fairly the order of play shall be worked out as follows:-

List Associations in order of play according to the event as above. The Association receiving the bye will be the first following the bye, then continue order.

C) LEAGUE CHAMPION'S CUP Format for League Champion's Cup 1. The name of the Tournament shall be "The BDF League Cup". 2. Participants shall be entered by their local Association and should preferably be the League Winners for that Association (One entrant per Association). 3. Each team that has to travel will be given $500.00 expenses by the sponsors of the tournament, Beck's beer. 4. The tournament will rotate around the Associations like the Masters and the Gold Cup. 5. TROPHIES. a) A "BDF LEAGUE Cup" will be purchased and presented to the winning team. This will be a floating trophy and will be kept by the Association that wins it for one year and must be presented the following year at the next "BDF LEAGUE CUP" b) Individual trophies for each player on the winning team. Trophies will be purchased according to the team that has the most players taking part in the competition c) Trophies for Best singles game, Highest check-off and most tons. 6. Registration a) No limit on number of players per team providing the player has only played for that team in the season just finished. b) Lists should be sent in to the Executive Committee prior to the event and should be authorised by the Secretary or President (Chairperson) of that Association as being composed only of eligible players. c) Each Association is to pay the usual $100.00 Tournament fee to the BDF. 7. RULES BDF rules of play and General Tournament rules will be used at all times. 8. FORMAT a) A match will consist of FIRST NIGHT/ROUND ROBIN PLAYOFF 3 doubles games, 3 doubles games 2 triples games, 2 triples games, 6 singles games, 6 singles games, 1 team game NO TEAM GAME with a possible 12 points per match for the Round Robin, but only a win/lose point in the playoffs b) A round robin format will take place between the Associations following which the points will be accumulated and added together and the Team with least points accumulated will be eliminated. c) The two remaining teams will then play a best-of-three event (without the team game in the match), with a win being 7-4, 8-3, 10-1 etc. That is, points will not be accumulated in the finals, only match wins. 2-0 or 2-1 matches wins. 9. SETUP a) The matches should be played on one board only. At least one other board should be available for practice. b) The team not playing should provide a scorer for the game in progress. c) All scoresheets should be handed in to the judges table and a record kept of low dart games, tons and high check offs. |
